How to tighten loose skin naturally following weight loss is something most people will want to know.
This really shouldn’t be a concern for anyone losing weight. The health benefits of losing weight, especially if you are doing it for medical reasons, far outweigh having some loose skin.
Obviously, the more weight you lose, the more loose skin you will have but there are ways to remedy that. Whether that be naturally or medically tighten loose skin.
These following natural remedies are not going to work on huge weight loss. Also, if you have excessive stretch marks these will unlikely go with these natural remedies. These would work for small to moderate loss only. They strengthen the natural elasticity, they do not shrink overly stretched skin. Biology can only work to certain levels. Personally, I didn’t even notice excess skin in any area until I had lost 3 stones. The most noticeable area was on my breasts as I lost a lot of breast tissue. Everywhere else on my body, you wouldn’t have been able to tell I was 3 stone heavier months previously.
Naturally Tighten Loose Skin
Collagen Supplements
Collagen is found naturally in our skin and it is what gives us our youthful appearance when we are younger. Gradually over time as we age the collagen our skin produces is less and less, hence fine lines and wrinkles. The elasticity of our skin is weaker, the less collagen we have.
There is a huge range of animal collagen supplements you could try. Marine collagen is very popular with slimmers all over the world and this is the main one I have taken in tablet form in the past. Bone broth is another suggested way of consuming more collagen.
In my continued weight loss journey, I have also tried powdered collagens in hot drinks. These are very palatable and some have no taste to them. It is worth trying a few different ones to see what you get on with best.
Creams & Lotions
If a product is advertised as a firming product, it will contain both collagen and elastin. As this is what our body needs to be able to bounce back.
Sadly, the longer the skin has been stretched the less chance it has of returning to its original state. However, the creams and lotions will still help enrich the stretched skin which can help with texture as well as appearance.
Treating your skin from the outside is a less efficient way to help it. Your skin is there to protect your body, and the amount of product which will actually get through the first layer of skin is minimal.
Healthy Diet
Being able to enrich your body from the inside, is the most efficient way.
Hydration is a crucial aspect of having supple skin. Ensuring you are drinking at least 2 litres of water a day will help you with this.
A number of vitamins and minerals which help make up a healthy diet will help too.
Protein plays a direct role in producing collagen which is essential in elasticity. Vitamin C and omega 3 are also key contributors to maintaining healthy skin.
Exercise
Increasing physical activity will burn more calories and will help build muscle mass. This muscle toning will help your excess skin too.
Activities which are specifically targeted for strength and training will help with tightening your skin. This again varies on how much skin there is that you have to tighten.
If you are wanting to tighten the loose skin on your stomach and tighten loose skin on your thighs, start with toning exercises. These 2 areas are especially receptive to exercise to help with enhancement.
If it doesn’t help naturally tighten loose skin, at the very least it will help with its appearance, so should always be considered.
In any weight loss scenario, you should ideally look to be healthy with what you consume and increase your body’s strength through exercise.
